Telluride Ice Capades

We  decided to go ice skating at the local ice skating rink.  We were a little worried at first because there are no sides to hold onto or run into to stop yourself!  But before we knew it we were doing some awesome tricks! ;)

Heli-Skiing

Silverton

Jess was lucky enough to be able to go to Silverton, Colorado and snowboard. Silverton Mountain skiing is similar to a cross of heli-skiing experience, snow cat skiing, and resort skiing but really unlike anything else in the country.  They have 1,819 acres of backcountry type terrain via chairlift.  There are no groomed runs, no cut trails, just loads of nature’s finest riding in the U.S.A. They were able to get in 5 runs (roughly 10,000+ vertical) of some of the best terrain in the world.  He and another resident went with a  guided group of 5 other skiers/snowboarders and they would hike 10-20 minutes to ski runs.

Ouray

 It's kind of hard to tell in the pictures but the ice was light blue, so pretty.

                                                 Ice Climbers

 Milo got soooo muddy!  I have never seen mud like this, sooo black, it looked like thick ink!

We had to check out Ouray since we were so close.  Ouray is nicknamed the Switzerland of America.  Also the original movie, True Grit, was filmed here.  Ouray attracts ice climbers and had an ice climbing festival here last weekend.  Such a beautiful place!

1 Skier and 1 Snowboarder

So the hardest part about skiing with a snowboarder for me is the chairlift.  Somehow my ski's got all tangled in his board and it ended up ripping the ski from my boot!  Ouch!  luckily they were able to send my ski up with this nice lady.  If only we had gotten a video of me getting off the lift with only one ski!!! hahaha!

                         of course we need to take a break for a snack and some hot cocoa!

yep! we went through it.  Telluride is a very fun mountain.  We are having a great, fun and relaxing time!

                     Telluride is proving to be most relaxing for Milo as well!
