Vicksburg

We went to Vicksburg, MS to see the Mississippi River and the War Memorial.

I told Jess pictures are always better with people in them, so this is what I get! haha
restored gunboat USS Cairo (sunk on December 12, 1862, on the Yazoo River, recovered successfully in 1964 The Cairo, also known as the "Hardluck Ironclad," was the first U.S. ship in history to be sunk by a torpedo/mine.


Illinois State Memorial
The Illinois State Memorial has 47 steps, one for every day Vicksburg was besieged




Henry Jewett- (Jess was named after, Henry is his middle name), fought in the war.
